The 2-day better ball stableford sponsored by La Zagaleta, Hotel Gran Melia Don Pepe, Green Life, Costa Vinos and DSP Exclusive was a close run thing with the team of 20 high profile Russian amateurs winning by a single point. Olga Seredenko, the Russian Team leader and publisher of Golf Style magazine in Moscow said “What a wonderful environment to play our first tournament in Europe, these golf courses are extremely challenging and we have thoroughly enjoyed our week in Marbella. As 2011 is Spain’s year of culture in Russia, we look forward to running the bulls through the streets of Moscow next year!”

The group from Moscow included prominent businessmen and social leaders and offered them, sponsors and players the opportunity to network, discuss business co-operation and enjoy the beautiful surroundings La Zagaleta has to offer. The Golf Style Cup 2010 is the start of a solid relationship between Spain, DSP Exclusive and Russian Golf Clubs, media and enthusiasts.

This exclusive competition was the result of a cultural challenge received by Marina Robertson, the Russian owner and Director of DSP Exclusive, from two of Moscow’s Golf Clubs.  Marina was very pleased with the results, the quality of the players and spirit of the competition. “This is the first event of its type in Andalusia region and our guests will return home with a first class impression of Spain and Andalucia”. When asked how she could top such a wonderful event, Marina said: “There is a lot more on offer, from Yachting to Polo and Motor GP Racing.  And of course, with the Skiing season approaching fast I think it is time to introduce the wonders of Sierra Nevada and show DSP clients that our region is also a great destination for winter sports.”

It will be held over 2 playing days, 6th and 7th November 2010 and it brings the new level of networking and promotional opportunities to those businesses that would like to target Russian-speaking clients. The two main objectives of this tournament is to a) promote Costa del Sol as The destination for Russian golfers, consequently generating the new stream of clients for various industries; b) generate promotional material for all the sponsors in a form of the editorial of 6 pages in one of the most prestigious press publications in Moscow golf society.

The maximum number of players for this tournament is 72. There is a confirmed number of 18 players from Moscow that represent different business sectors, including media, real estate, finance and oil industry.

The overall objective is to introduce Russian golf enthusiasts to the golf environment and the opportunities available.

Georgia’s economy is undergoing a process of adaptation in its strong growth, which makes it a target country for the tourist market of Marbella. The collaboration with the City of Batumi becomes a tool to promote culture and trade within the Caucasus region and to promote Marbella as a new destination for Georgian Nationals.

Together with the Marbella Municipality, EuroGeorgia, DSP (Del Sol Packaged) and a number of Georgian Nationals resident in the area hosted an informal dinner and arranged visits to a number of touristic and residential developments. This included guided tour of old Marbella, Golf at Los Flamingos and lunch at La Zagaleta. Natalie Stuart-Fox the president of EuroGeorgia said “ This is an excellent opportunity for both cities to develop both trade and tourism. Georgia is rich in culture, gastronomy and investment opportunities and is seeking more exposurein European markets.
