The Shirt 2010 Golf Tournament

Björn Heidenstrom, an ex  Norwegian Footballer is cycling from Oslo to Cape Town in aid of International refugees, in association with the Norwegian refugee council (www.nrc.no) (Theshirt2010.net). He will be passing through Marbella from 21st to 28th November and he will be in Gibrltar on the 30th. We are holding a fund raising golf tournament for him at the Marbella Golf and Country club on Friday 27th November. Björn is asking people to send a football shirt as he will stitch them together to form the worlds largest shirt and use it as a giant shirt wave at the 2010 World Cup.

We are actively seeking sponsors (Hole €300) and players to participate. We have the backing of the Marbella Town Hall and are using their logos “Marbella Exclusive” and the Tourism logo and have Blue Sky super car hire bringing Ferrari’s for the hole in one  competition so it will be a high profile affair. The Scandinavian media are backing the event as well as Swedish Radio and Talk Radio Europe. If you want to go a step further, Björn is also looking for a global sponsor to help fund some of his journey’s expenses.

He is on the front page of www.nettavisen.no every day and is getting a lot of world wide attention through his own site and social networking like twitter and facebook etc.

Priority at the moment is to this event and you can fully brand a hole or donate a prize.

Please call to discuss details.

The B2B Espana costa networking group held their Estepona chapter meeting yesterday with great support from the local media.

The meeting arranged by Marina & Simon Robertson of Del Sol Packaged was hailed a great success as members of the Costa del Sol media attended to meet and present to the members.

The media team included representation from Talk Radio Europe, the Russian language MK & Linda publishing group, Marbella TV and thebestofMarbella.com.

Steve Gilmour of Talk Radio Europe, who hosts the Sports magazine show and The Tonight Show talked to the members about the potential of radio and the targeted way in which business can focus on its client using a carefully scripted voice over and the use of show sponsorship to capture the right listeners. Talk Radio Europe covers the Costa del Sol and the Costa Blanca and has the highest listenership of any English language talk based station in Spain.

The Russian language MK & Linda publishing group highlighted the demographic of the Russian speaking population and commented on the 10,000 copy distribution of the Russian language weekly newspaper MK. The B2B members have had some experience of the Russian media in previous meetings arranged by Del Sol Packaged, however, Katerina Surgutanova, the editor of MK & Linda explained how targeted this media was to the Russian community as it is has the widest circulation and the biggest readership amongst the 100,000 Russian speaking residents in Spain.

Oti Garcia Diaz-Ambrona presented on behalf of the Marbella Town Hall and TV station and explained the type of shows broadcast by Marbella TV. Mrs Diaz-Ambrona highlighted the plans the TV station has post the digital switch over on 2010 and the new English Language programming schedule which will include local news, current affairs and magazines shows to bring a lot more information to the local community.

Syl Chad of “thebestofMarbella.com” talked to the group about the complexity that is inherent within marketing on the internet. There a hundreds of ways to market a business on the web, including facebook, linkedin and of course Twitter. The best of Marbella dot com is a website and a blog which not only actively promotes life in Marbella, but is also a very strong tool for business to market their services both inside and outside of Marbella. “ThebestofMarbella.com” is accessed from some 95 countries and has over 1,000 hits per day, which makes it an extremely strong site for any potential advertiser.

Simon Robertson, Managing Director of Del Sol Packaged, the relocation and corporate event management company based on the coast, was very pleased with the meeting and said “B2B espana is one of the best networking groups along the coast and allows members to get directly involved in the management of meetings, Dave Edwards, the Managing Director offered DSP the chair whilst he was on vacation, which enabled us to manage the meeting in our own style. I hope the members of the group and the media appreciated the opportunity.

The next B2B meeting will be held on 11th November at Vista del Mar Restaurante, Urbanization Miraflores, beachside ctra Cadiz, KM 199, Mijas Costa, Malaga. Please contact David Edwards at david@b2bespana.com
