Bjorn and his dream transportation

Bjorn and his dream transportation

Bjørn is cycling from Norway to South Africa in support of International refugees and has made it to the Southern Coast of Spain on his epic journey to travel through at least 50 countries en route to the World Cup Finals in South Africa.  His project “The Shirt 2010” is in cooperation with The Refugee Council (www.nrc.no) and their campaign: “Forget me not” to raise awareness and funds for the plight of the world’s ever growing number of International refugees… there are 45 million as of November 2009…

His aim is to create the biggest symbol in the world from the football family by collecting signed shirts from football clubs and football fans around the globe. All of these donated shirts will be sewn together to create one huge shirt symbolising unity and passion for both football and the refugee’s plight. This huge shirt will be flown as a flag during the 2010 World Cup and raise much needed media attention for the cause and also positive news about football fans.

Participants and sponsors of “The Shirt 2010” Golf Tournament held at Marbella Golf and Country Club on Friday 27th November 2009, helped to raise much needed funds for Bjørn to support him in his long journey to South Africa.

The Del Sol Packaged team in collaboration with Marbella municipality, Spanish and foreign businesses, created a platform that would help Bjørn to bring even more attention to his cause throughout the world with extensive coverage by local, national and international media; Antena 3, Talk Radio Europe, KustRadion, Svenska Magasinet, GH Productions, MK Espana, Linda Magazine, Tout Magazine all attended the event.

The glorious sunshine contributed to a quality golf day and a wonderful buffet lunch prepared by the club restaurant.  The T-shirt handover ceremony in aid of the project “The Shirt 2010” was opened by the Director of foreign branches of Unicaja, followed by the Director of Youth Department from Marbella Municipality (Marbella FC), Rensen Management, Blue Sky Super Car Hire, Ludmila Fowler, Tahitian Noni, Sanyres, Advent communications, and not to forget the smallest t-shirts from the children of the Del Sol Packaged Directors and biggest fans of Bjorn.

The prize presentation showed that the outstanding sponsorship support provided not only financial support but also multitude of prizes such allowing every single participant to receive at least one momento of the occasion.

“This is the best day of my journey so far, even if I do admit to cycling better than I play golf!” Bjorn laughs, “But above all this event has raised a great deal of awareness throughout Spain for the refugees and I personally thank all the participants for their support”

From the Costa del Sol, Bjorn then travels North to Barcelona to meet with FC Barcelona and then hitches a ride on a container ship to Italy. He then continues through Europe before entering Africa to visit the numerous refugee camps on the continent. You can follow Bjorn on his website www.theshirt2010.net .

Creating the Perfect Corporate Event

Planning a corporate event can be very time consuming. Creating a perfect event and selecting the best location will be determined by a selection of factors including;

• Budget
• Entertainment
• Decoration
• Number of Attendees
• Type of Event ( team building, conference, party, media event etc)
• Location Amenities and Facilities
• Good Transport Links
• Parking
• Capacity
• Catering (onsite or offsite)

Even when you have all the information, you will still need to contact possible venues to arrange viewings, prices and bookings.

Furthermore co-ordination of caterers, entertainment, invitations and transport can be very problematic.

Organising a corporate event in a location known to you is hard enough but what if you need to organise an event in a foreign country such as Spain?

There are many companies that offer event planning services and they will take care of every detail. It is important to use such a service when you are unfamiliar with organising events. The event planner will have a list of reputable vendors in the industry and will assure reliability, professionalism and satisfaction.

A lot of people are often mistaken and avoid using an event planning service as they feel it will be very expensive and go over their budget. However, on the contrary an event planning service is probably going to save you money and keep you within budget as they will know exactly who to contact, and because they work in the business of events they will also be able to negotiate discounts with vendors that an individual would not. In terms of payment, different companies have different methods of charging. Some will charge a flat fee, others may charge an hourly fee and some may charge a percentage fee. But whatever you pay it will be worth the time and money that you would spend planning the event alone.
